We were pleased to welcome the Mayor of West Yorkshire, Tracy Brabin, to see some of our great developments and big plans for the future.
Andy Wallhead, our Chief Executive, and Sue Young, our Executive Director of Investment, met with the Mayor to discuss what we have achieved with West Yorkshire Combined Authority’s Brownfield Funding and what plans we still have in store.
They took a tour of Horsefair and discussed the future plans to demolish and rebuild Warren House later this year.
At Newport House they met with the Estates Team to talk about how tenants have settled into their new homes. Newport House contains 37 flats which regenerated the old Pontefract Fire Station site. The new scheme has been completed for just under a year and wouldn’t have been possible without the support of West Yorkshire Combined Authority’s Brownfield funding.
Andy said, “It was a great opportunity to meet with Mayor, Tracy Brabin, to showcase the fantastic work we’re doing to regenerate areas of Pontefract and bring more high-quality affordable homes to the area. The Brownfield funding has been key to completing Newport House and I am excited to work more with West Yorkshire Combined Authority in the future.”
Andy has also recently been appointed as the new chair of West Yorkshire Housing Partnership. The partnership sees housing associations coming together to see how they can contribute to the future of West Yorkshire. The Mayor recently met with the West Yorkshire Housing Partnership to discuss building more affordable homes in the region.
