Community Champion Winner: Jane Robinson and Tiny Hands Baby Bank

Published 9 October 2017

Jane Robinson won the Community Champion category in WDH’s 2017 Love Where You Live Awards.

Jane from South Elmsall, Pontefract started the Tiny Hands Baby Bank to support families and single parents in need across the district. Jane helps people in desperate circumstances by providing everything a baby or toddler may need to help them get back on their feet.  She has raised over £3,000 to buy more items and relies heavily on donations from the public, which she promotes using Facebook. She has helped hundreds of families across the district already this year and now takes referrals from external agencies including WDH and Social Services. She goes above and beyond to help and all of this is done in her own time.

On winning the award, she said: “I want to say a massive thank you to everyone that voted for us. This is a massive achievement for everyone that has helped contribute to our charity by donating, collecting and delivering items. Thank you so much!”
