WDH is working with Keepmoat Homes to provide 13 new homes for rent on previously unused land in Huddersfield.
The affordable homes form part of a wider development lead by Keepmoat which will transform a 4.5-hectare patch of unused grassland off Ashbrow Road, which Keepmoat successfully purchased from Kirklees Council.
The wider development consists of 161 homes for sale, a 50-unit Extra Care facility and provision for new public open space in the area. The affordable homes, supported with Homes England funding will consist of a mix of two and three-bedroom homes for affordable rent which will be managed by WDH.
Sue Young, Executive Director of Investment at WDH, said: “This is a great opportunity for WDH to expand our horizons and create positive relationships with other local authorities while increasing our housing stock, providing much needed affordable homes in Yorkshire.”
Paul Oldridge, Regional Managing Director of Keepmoat Homes (Yorkshire West), said “This is a fantastic mixed-use development which will deliver 111 new homes and a 50-bed extra care facility. This development expands our growth within Kirklees, and we are delighted to be partnering with WDH to deliver the 13 affordable rent homes to the area”
Phase one construction work has now commenced and the first affordable homes will be available for residents from Spring 2022.
