WDH awards grant to mental health support group in Eastmoor

Published 13 February 2018

Catch A Falling Star, an adult mental health support group was awarded £780 by WDH’s Community Grant Scheme.

The group was set up to create a safe environment for adults who are affected by mental illness through personal experience or through supporting others. They arrange social meetings and events to raise awareness in the community and challenge stigmas relating to mental health. They are open to new and existing members at their fortnightly sessions.  The grant will help towards hiring a room for their meetings at St Swithun’s Community Centre.

Holly Blacker, Chair of Catch A Falling Star said: “It means so much to us to be supported by a local organisation like WDH who really cares about our community and helps to promote mental health and wellbeing. The funding we received will cover our room hire for our support group sessions for a whole year ensuring we continue to meet and build our support networks.”

Chris Croxall, WDH’s Tenant Involvement Officer said: “The group do a great job raising awareness of issues surrounding mental health and offer the community a safe place for adults who are either directly or indirectly affected by mental health issues”.
