Following news of the appointment of the first West Yorkshire mayor Andy Wallhead, WDH Chief Executive, said:

“We congratulate Tracy Brabin on becoming West Yorkshire’s first directly elected mayor.  This is an incredibly important role and one that must champion the growth of our regional economy, with a focus on offering opportunities for everyone.

“Tackling the housing crisis is one of her manifesto pledges and we share the same aspiration of delivering more safe, sustainable and affordable homes, for all.  Achieving her goals of revitalising our towns, improving transport, tackling the climate emergency and ensuring a more equitable society will rely on good leadership and governance, as well as effective partnership working with local organisations.

“As the largest social housing provider in West Yorkshire, WDH is committed to playing its part. We look forward to supporting our new mayor to help solve the challenges, that are impacting the lives of local people, and realise shared ambitions that meet the needs of our communities across the region.”
