School ECO Council renovates garden with help from WDH

WDH has been working with Sodexo and Outwood Primary Academy Bell Lane to revamp  the school’s garden.

The garden area was overgrown and unmaintained so WDH worked with the children at the school  to create a plan of action for the garden.

The school put together a team of children from different year groups to form the ECO Council who made the important decisions and were consulted throughout the work.

Andy Giblin, Sodexo’s Contract Manager said: “The project has been a great success! The children have transformed an unkempt space and revitalised it into an interactive outdoor classroom.  We were overwhelmed by the enthusiasm and teamwork of all the children We are honoured to have been part of a project that has brought so many people together and will hopefully bring plenty of joy to everyone involved.”

Jane Gwilliam, WDH’s Tenant Involvement Officer said: “The transformation of the garden is amazing! Everyone that has been involved has done an excellent job.”

WDH donated £100 towards the cost of plants for the newly renovated garden and Sodexo provided the labour and some of the materials, including a bright coloured bench.
