Since WDH was established in 2005, we have gone from strength to strength. We are now one of the UK’s largest social housing providers and the biggest provider in Wakefield, with over 32,000 homes across the district and the wider region. However, we deliver more than just housing and have expanded the range of services we provide to our tenants, stakeholders and communities to offer support where it is needed.
As we continue to develop and grow we are looking for people who want to make a difference to the lives of people across the Wakefield district and beyond, by helping us to shape the services we deliver to a wide variety of customers.
We are more than a typical landlord and we are looking to create more than your typical Board. We are looking for Board members who can bring insight and experience from our communities to help us to provide what our customers and communities need.
Our Board is responsible for making big decisions that have a big impact and we want to make sure that the impact is in the right places.
We are looking for people with a range of skills, from a range of backgrounds but particularly those who use our services, who are tenants themselves, who are heavily involved in our communities through community groups or other services, but most of all we are looking for people with the passion to make a difference; the passion to make a difference to thousands of lives in our region.
We would value representation on our Board from all walks of life, of all ages and backgrounds and minority groups and would like to make sure that our Board is representative of our customers, our communities and the wider district. We are particularly keen to hear from tenants, those with a background in housing or estate management, expertise in property management, investment and construction, IT, Accountancy, Health and Safety or compliance.
We are looking for someone who understands the issues faced by our customers, their needs and their priorities so we can make sure that we meet them and who appreciates the issues currently impacting on the sector.

You will be supported with guidance from a mentor, an induction to the role of the Board and ongoing training. All Board Members are paid for their time, effort and contribution to improving and developing WDH.
