Donation boost to foodbanks

Employees from WDH donated £650 worth of food to local foodbanks in just a week, the equivalent of 26 adult food parcels.

A great effort was made by everyone at the housing association and the welcome donations, weighing in at 263kg, equates to 78 days’ worth of food to be given to both Pontefract and Knottingley Food banks.

Amanda Sheridan, WDH’s Cash Wise Team Leader said: “Our local food banks offer vital support to local people who are struggling financially, so we are always looking at different ways in which we can help them to meet that growing need. We asked our generous employees to donate non-perishable foods to boost the food banks depleting stocks.”

She added: “The amount of donations we received was overwhelming and we are really pleased with the result. The volunteers at the food banks do a fantastic job of offering critical support to those in need, so we were only happy to help.”
