Croftlands residents sat and worked out!

Residents at WDH’s Croftlands Extra Care Independent Living Scheme in Ossett are getting fit while they sit by taking part in arm chair exercise and boccia bowling classes organised by the Senior Citizens Support Group.

Armchair exercises enable people with reduced mobility to stay fit by doing a low-strain workout carried out whilst sat in a chair or stood next to it.

Croftlands resident, Kathleen Ashurst, said: “I really enjoyed the session; I will be coming every week as it is lovely to get together with others!”

The sessions are held at Croftlands Extra Care Independent Living Scheme every Tuesday afternoon at 3 pm. They cost £3 to attend and will include light refreshments. They are open to members or the public as well as residents.

Kathryn Hutchinson, WDH’s Tenant Involvement Officer, said: “The sessions have been really popular so far and are great for social interaction as well as having health and wellbeing benefits. All the residents seemed to really enjoy it.”
