Havercroft Parents Forum won the Community Group Category in WDH’s 2015 Love Where You Live Awards; the group are no strangers to the winner’s podium as they also won this award at our 2014 final.
Havercroft Parent Forum demonstrates outstanding commitment in providing activities within the local community for children and their families. The members of the group have all learnt new skills in order to be able to organise activities and events for local people to take part in, such as knitting courses and family fun days. A key element of the group is their fundraising in order to make these events possible. They are committed to local families and enabling them to be a part of something.
Nikki Moxon, Chair of Havercroft Parent Forum, said: “It’s a brilliant feeling to win. I really didn’t think we’d win, and it’s a fabulous feeling because after all the challenges we’ve faced such as the Surestart centre closing we’ve proved everyone wrong and become even stronger.
“We may use the funding to pay for our Christmas activities, or possibly to fund activities in the February half-term and everyone within our communities will be able to take part.”
