Cake and colourful blooms mark WDH’s 10th anniversary

Tenants dug deep into sponge and soil to help celebrate WDH’s 10th anniversary.

The anniversary celebration at Moverley Flatts Independent Living Scheme, Pontefract saw residents tuck into cake and get busy with trowels to plant colourful blooms.

The scheme’s oldest resident Frank Smithey, who celebrated his 94th birthday in June, helped scheme manager Joanne Hammond cut an iced cake to mark the milestone.

After enjoying tea and slices of the sponge cake, residents went into the garden to create colourful planters as part of WDH’s Love Where You Live campaign. WDH’s gardening contractors Sodexo provided a selection of plants which were delivered by Contracts Manager Alex McLaughlan.

Joanne said: “The tenants enjoyed playing their part in marking WDH’s 10th anniversary and there was a good turn-out for the planting session.

“Events like this are always popular and this one had a special significance.”
