Art competition winners revealed

Published 21 January 2022

This Christmas, we offered the artists of Wakefield the opportunity to showcase their skills, as well as support local charities who have found fundraising during the pandemic, particularly difficult by taking part in our art competition.

Sharing how they interpreted the themes of “reconnecting” and “home is…”, artists of every age and ability in the Wakefield district entered the competition. All entries were put up for public vote, to decide five worthy winners.

The artist taking the top spot, winning a £200 donation to the charity of their choice and to have their artwork put on display in our recently renovated independent living scheme, Stoney Garth is Phillip Cooper with "Pets".

Four runners up will have their artwork presented at other schemes in the district and £100 donated to their chosen charity:
•    Katy Robinson with "Buddy";
•    Chloe Bradley with "Albie";
•    Ella Durrant with "Family and Nature"; and
•    Donna Jackson with "Newmillerdam".

Thank you to everyone that entered the competition and voted to decide our winners. We look forward to seeing the artwork on display soon.
