Applications for our 2019 Apprenticeships will open on Monday 4 March, kicking off Apprenticeship Week.
This year we have four posts available:
In 2018, eight apprentices joined us, working towards their NVQ and getting on the job experience. Since beginning their apprenticeship the group has completed an induction and taken part in a teambuilding residential where they learned problem solving skills and how to work as a team. When joining our programme apprentices are assigned a mentor and given the opportunity to work across different work areas.
Amy Fishbourne, WDH’s Apprentice Review Officer, works closely with apprentices to make sure they get the opportunity to complete all the elements of their NVQ, and provides support with college work if needed.
When talking to Amy about the 2018 apprentices, she said: “It’s great to see last year’s apprentices settled into their roles. They will complete their apprenticeships over the next 3-4 years and will build up their practical experience working alongside mentors within the business. We recruit apprentices with a real passion for their trade and who are eager to develop their careers at WDH.”
We spoke to one our apprentices to find out what he thought to the programme. Will Ballesteros, WDH’s Electrician Apprentice said: “I applied to WDH as a family member had told me about the company and recommended that it would be a good opportunity for me. I am currently working on site which I’ll be doing for 12 months to build my knowledge and experience. It enables me to practice and become skilled in each task until I am confident.
“I am looking forward to working with customers, I think that will be exciting because you don’t know what you’re going to turn up to and it will challenge me to think on the spot.”
