WDH’s Love Where You Live Awards are back again for a sixth year!

Published 16 June 2017

Young achievers and community heroes in the Wakefield district who make a positive difference to their communities will be celebrated in our sixth annual awards.

Tenants, residents and community groups can nominate people for the hard work they put in to make the Wakefield district a better place to live.

This year the contest will feature eight categories, with each of the shortlisted finalists in with the chance of winning a prize of £200, £100 or £50 thanks to our sponsors Sodexo.

However , this year we will launch two brand new award categories:

The Digital in the Community Award for a group or individual who have embraced digital technology as a way to promote their local community or group.

The Respect Champion Award for a group or individual who have stood up to antisocial behaviour in their community or developed an initiative that has led to a reduction of antisocial behaviour in their neighbourhood.

WDH Chief Executive Kevin Dodd said: “Our Love Where You Live Awards are a community-wide celebration of people who make this a district to be proud of and they become more successful every year.  A great deal of hard work has been going on across the district to make our communities better places to live and local people are at the heart of this. You can nominate yourself or anyone you think deserves recognition for their efforts.”

To nominate a person or a group for an award, you can complete the form on our dedicated website www.lovewhereyouliveawards.co.uk.

If you need help to complete your nomination form please call 0345 8 507 507 and one of our Digital Angels can arrange to meet you and help with the form.

The deadline for entries is Friday 11 August, with judging taking place later that month. Members of the public will then be able to vote for three finalists in each category before the winners are announced at a grand finale in October.
