Single Equality Scheme

We believe at WDH that diversity and inclusion are at the heart of everything we do and underpin our vision and values.

To refresh our thinking on diversity and to move into line with the Government's Single Equality Bill, we have adopted a Diversity and Inclusion Strategy that incorporates the following:

  • age;
  • disability;
  • gender;
  • religion or belief;
  • race; and
  • sexual orientation.

The Strategy allows us to consider discrimination, disadvantage and unfairness in the broadest sense and, in doing so, helps us in delivering more effective services for individuals and more inclusive policies, procedures and processes.

The Strategy includes the introduction of a Single Equality Scheme (SES), supported by a Single Equality Action Plan, which details how the scheme will be delivered. It includes specified actions and identifies responsibilities for achievement of objectives.

We are committed to involving employees and residents in the development of our Single Equality Scheme and Action Plan and would welcome feedback on them both. Please contact JayneO'Connell@WDH.co.uk if you have any comments you would like to raise on the Scheme.
