Apprentice projects

Apprentices from Wakefield and District Housing (WDH) and partners Bullock are preparing to put their trade and team working skills to the test as they take on the challenge of modernising a WDH property in Ossett.

Different trade apprentices will work together to carry out major improvement works to the property, which is on Pickering Lane, to bring it up to the Wakefield Standard, a standard higher than the Government’s Decent Homes Standard.

Apprentices started working on the house during National Apprenticeship Week (23-27 Feb) to raise awareness of the important role apprenticeships play in the business world. Gary Marley, WDH Employee Training Manager, said:

"This is a fantastic opportunity for the apprentices to develop professionally by putting what they have already learned into practice. It will give them a real sense of achievement and be a great example for their portfolios."
