Calling all green fingered tenants and residents.
Apply today to win one of the prestigious awards.
Green fingered tenants and residents are urged to get set and grow if they want to be in with a chance of winning a prize at Wakefield and District Housing’s (WDH’s) Garden Competition 2008.
Both WDH tenants and those who live on WDH’s estates are invited to enter the competition, which sees judging take place throughout the summer and an awards ceremony held later in the year.
Last year, nearly 300 contenders competed for a range of titles including: Best Street Garden; Best Young Gardener; Best Hanging Basket; Most Improved Garden and Best Vegetable Garden.

Best Containers 2007
And this year those who do not have a traditional garden can also enter the competition following the launch of the Best Balcony, Patio or Terrace Award. And everyone who enters the competition will have a chance to collect the most prestigious prize of all - WDH’s Gardener of the Year 2008 and £100 in cash!
The collective efforts of independent living schemes, neighbourhoods and communities are also recognised at the awards, and we also have an award for children who lend a helping hand in the garden.

Best Street 2007
The three categories all proved popular, with many groups and children winning awards, and it is hoped that there will be even more entries for these categories this year.
Kevin Dodd, Chief Executive of WDH, said:
"Tenants and residents’ tremendous efforts to keep their gardens looking their very best is what makes WDH’s Annual Garden Competition a success year on year".
"I’m sure many people will have already begun preparing for this year’s competition, and we’re anticipating more entries than ever before in what promises to be the best Annual Garden Competition yet."
Residents who wish to enter the competition can download an application form or contact OneCALL on 0845 8 507 507 to request a copy.
