WDH URGE TENANTS TO STOP, CHAIN, CHECK CALLERS AT THE DOOR

Wakefield and District Housing (WDH) is urging tenants and residents to check the identity of callers at their door by using the Stop, Chain, Check method.

Recently there have been reports of people trying to enter homes by pretending to be Police Officers or employees from the Water Board to get into properties, and WDH is urging tenants and residents to stay one step ahead of them by using these three simple steps:

STOP: Before answering your front door to callers, always check your back door, lock it and take the key with you.

CHAIN: Put your chain or door bar on before opening the door - this stops callers trying to walk into your home before you find out who they are.

CHECK : Always check the caller’s details, such as their identification badge, before you let them into your house. If you are in any doubt, ask them for a contact phone number so you can make further checks.
