Become a leaseholder
If you buy a flat or maisonette via the
Right to Buy or Right to Acquire schemes, or a percentage of one under the
New Build Homebuy scheme, you will automatically become a leaseholder.
Around 360 of the properties owned and managed by Wakefield and District Housing are leasehold. Leasehold properties include maisonettes, flats and apartments, some of which are high-rise blocks.
WDH is responsible for maintaining the structure and exterior of these buildings as a whole, including areas everyone uses, like halls and stairways.
As a leaseholder you will need to pay
service charges – payments that go towards what we spend maintaining the communal areas of your building.
