Affordable home contents insurance
Wakefield and District Housing (WDH) does not insure tenants’, leaseholders’ or shared owners’ household
contents such as furniture, belongings and decorations.
In the event of a loss such as fire, theft, or water damage the contents of your home are at risk.
WDH is working with RSA to provide affordable
home contents insurance for tenants and leaseholders. The scheme is simple to join as it is open to anyone who
lives in a WDH property. Payments for the insurance can be made in instalments with your normal payments
to WDH, rather than in a lump sum.
You can see how much the insurance costs in the application brochure.
A special discounted rate is available to households with any residents over 60 years of age.
Standard cover
The scheme provides cover for most household goods and contents, whilst they are in the insured's home.
They are covered against loss or damage caused by specific events such as theft, fire and flood. It also covers
lost or stolen keys, freezer contents and their own legal liability to the public, as well as the cost of
alternative accommodation.
Standard cover plus accidental damage and personal belongings
Accidental damage and personal belongings are not automatically covered by this insurance, apart from
certain articles as explained in the application brochure.
For an additional premium it is possible to purchase cover giving full accidental damage and personal belongings cover
