What improvements do we make?

Homes are improved to meet a certain high standard, known as the Wakefield Standard. This is higher than the national standard set by the government.

All properties will be individually surveyed so that we can decide the extent of work needed.

We always check electrical and gas systems and fit/check smoke alarms each year. In addition, improvements may be made in the following areas:

Area Description
Windows High quality PVCu double-glazed windows with secure locking handles. Metal windows replaced.
Kitchens Modern fitted kitchen units together with vinyl flooring, tiling and extractor fan.
Heating A fire installed in living or dining rooms and full central heating system.
Bathrooms Modern fitted bathroom suite with shower connector, thermostatically controlled taps and extractor fan, together with vinyl flooring, tiling and redecoration.
Doors high quality, secure front and back doors with choice of brass fittings.
Roof New roofs for all properties where necessary

In many cases, you can choose from a range of styles, so you have a say in how your improved modernised home will look.

Take a look at our information sheets to find out more about how the improvements are made to different areas of your home.
