Gas safety and servicing

If your gas system breaks down you should contact OneCALL on: 0845 8 507 507 (calls may be recorded for training purposes) or email: onecall@wdh.co.uk.

If you smell gas or fumes you should always:
  • Turn the gas off at the meter.
  • Open all doors and windows.
  • Don’t use electrical switches.
  • Don’t try to fix the problem yourself.
  • Call Transco Gas Emergency Services on 0800 111 999.
Rooms where gas appliances are installed should not be used to sleep in. Use designated bedrooms only. Where, through ill health or for any other reason, the gas appliance room must be used to sleep in, please contact us for further advice.

At Wakefield and District Housing we are committed to your safety and ensure that all gas heating appliances are checked and serviced every 12 months. We will make sure gas fittings and flues we have installed are safe, and well-maintained by Corgi-registered engineers.

Gas servicing

To ensure your appliances/flues are checked annually, or for any gas servicing enquiries, contact our Gas Servicing Section on Freephone 0800 731 7347.

Replacing a gas appliance

If you want to replace a gas appliance, always seek permission from your local Service Access Point.

Letting us into your home

You will need to allow authorised employees of WDH or other agents into your home to carry out maintenance and safety checks on our gas appliances – this is part of your Tenancy agreement.

We will give you 24 hours advance notice in writing, if possible.

Always ask callers at your door to show their identity card before letting them into your home. WDH will always contact you in advance if work is going to be carried out at your home. If you are in any doubt, call OneCALL on 0845 8 507 507.
