Promotes the district and encourages business growth and inward investment to help create a climate of prosperity and partnership.

Safety

Community Safety Partnership
Partnership involving WDH, Wakefield Council, West Yorkshire Police and various other organisations working together to help reduce crime and the fear of crime, by making sure that people feel safer in places where they live and work.

Wakefield District Primary Care Trust
Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) are responsible for providing community health services including GPs, district and community nurses, dentists and pharmacists, buying hospital services and improving the health in the local community.

Voluntary sector

VOX
The Community Empowerment Network for Wakefield, VOX works to ensure voluntary and community organisations are fully represented in the Partnership. It help groups communicate and share ideas, and gives them a ‘united voice’ in the way the district is run.

Voluntary Action Wakefield District (VAWD)
Works to promote the development of an effective and vibrant voluntary and community sector within the Wakefield Metropolitan District area, providing organisations with practical help to develop and run groups.

Wakefield District Community Online
Vibrant online community information site where residents of the Wakefield district can search a directory of community events, groups, clubs and voluntary organisations. Groups can build and maintain their own website, add items to the District news and advertise jobs – all for free.

Black and ethnic minorities

Partnership Board Member Nesar Rafiq has worked with the Wakefield Racial Harassment group for many years and works with various black and minority ethnic community groups.

He is also involved in the Voluntary Action Wakefield District BME Project, helping voluntary and community groups in black and minority ethnic (BME) communities to have their own voice, and to help make services in general more accessible to people living in BME communities.
