Eastmoor Community Archives Group

After the success of their first book, Childhood memories of Eastmoor by David Craggs, the Eastmoor Archives group are planning and researching for their second book.

They would like to hear from anyone who has stories or memories about the old swimming baths on Almshouse Lane or the new swimming baths on Sun Lane.

Eastmoor Community Project

Did you know that you can join martial arts class at St Swithuns Community Centre?

Or that there is an art group for local adults that meet on a Monday night.

They have an exciting and varied programme of social groups that use the centre throughout the week.

Simply Leisure

Simply Leisure are a new group for the over 50s. They meet at the St Swithuns Community Centre, Eastmoor every Monday afternoon between 1pm and 3pm.

There is an exciting programme of guest speakers and trips planned for the next few months.

VOX Community Networks

VOX is the Community Empowerment Network (CEN) for the Wakefield district. They have hundreds of members made up of community and voluntary groups and individual community members throughout the local area. VOX work to give these groups and individuals a united voice to influence the way the District is run.

Groundwork Wakefield

The central Wakefield area is covered by Emily Ramskill, Kay Stringfellow and Brian Precious. Emily has worked for Groundwork Wakefield for three years and Brian and Kay have recently joined the team.

The Wakefield Central team covers the central and west areas of the district; the boundary follows the Wakefield and District Housing areas for Wakefield City and Rural and Lupset, Ossett and Horbury.

Currently the team are working in the Eastmoor, Portobello, Peacock, Darnley, City Centre and Gawthorpe areas but also work in many other neighbourhoods.

Neighbourhood Management

Agbrigg and Belle Vue Neighbourhood Management - Neighbourhood Management is a new way of working between residents and service providers. This means getting the Council, Police, Wakefield and District Housing, Primary Care Trust, Fire and Rescue and many other partner agencies to work together and try to improve the quality of life for people in Agbrigg and Belle Vue.
