Garden competition

Every November, WDH holds an annual garden competition, with prizes. Both WDH tenants and those who live on WDH’s estates are invited to enter the competition, which sees judging take place throughout the summer, and an awards ceremony held later in the year.

Along with the coveted ‘WDH Gardener of the Year’ award, other categories include Best Street Garden; Best Young Gardener; Most Improved Garden and Best Vegetable Garden. And it’s worth entering even if you don’t have a traditional garden – there are also prizes for Best Balcony, Patio or Terrace.

The collective efforts of independent living schemes, neighbourhoods and communities are also recognised at the awards, and last year WDH set up an award for children who lend a helping hand in the garden.
