Gardens

If you have a garden, we want to encourage you to take pride in it. Working in your garden or allotment is a good way to relax, and it doesn’t take much work before you can really see a difference to your surroundings.

It creates a better living environment for other residents when gardens in their local area are tidy and well looked-after.

Garden inspections

To make sure no one has to put up with neighbours with very unkempt gardens or lawns cluttered with rubbish, we hold a garden inspection as part of our annual external inspection of properties.

We are not too strict, but there are certain things you’ll need to do:

  • Keep hedges and privets trimmed and tidy.
  • Cut grass and lawns to a reasonable length.
  • Avoid bulky rubbish or other unreasonable mess.
  • Keep a general standard of tidiness.

Help is available for older people, disabled people or anyone with problems looking after their garden. Contact us or visit your local SAP to let us know.
