WDH’s Independent Living residents raised lots of dough for Macmillan

Published 2 October 2017

Residents at Queen’s Avenue Bungalows in Pontefract raised lots of dough for Macmillan with their coffee morning.

They took part in a bake off and held a cake sale as well as holding a raffle, quiz, bingo and guess the height of the cake game.

The residents raised nearly £200 which will be donated to Macmillan to help support those going through cancer treatment.

Margaret Nicholls was the proud winner of the bake off with her delicious apple pie.

Miranda Millet, WDH’s Community Support Worker at the scheme, said: “The residents all had a lovely time. They love getting together for coffee mornings and social events and really enjoyed raising money for such a worthy cause. It went down a treat!”

Other Independent Living Schemes across the district also held coffee mornings to help raise money for Macmillan. Croftlands Extra Care Scheme in Ossett held theirs on Thursday and raised nearly £200 as well with their bake off, raffle and open the box.
