WDH is helping tenants to see loved ones this Christmas

Published 23 November 2017

WDH is working with tenants who are facing Christmas alone this year to reach out to their loved ones with the power of the internet.

Our team of Digital Angels will be visiting tenants across the district to help them to wish family and friends a Merry Christmas using video link.

Mick Walsh, Director of Housing, said: “Isolation and loneliness can be an issue for some people, especially at Christmas. We’re going to try to help our tenants who might be alone at Christmas this year to connect with their loved ones . A lot of people have mobile phones or tablets but don’t realise they can use them to video call. Our Digital Angels work with tenants across the district throughout the year to help to get them online and make the most of technology they have access to. We hope that, by offering this help, we can help reduce loneliness amongt some of the most vulnerable in our community and bring a little extra Christmas cheer this year.”

According to figures from Age UK, 200,000 older people across the UK have not had a conversation with friends or family for a month. We hope to tackle that this Christmas.
