Local students have been pitching their ideas for a new WDH app, as part of the landlord’s latest Schools Enterprise Challenge.
Crofton Academy, Wakefield City Academy and Westborough High School all took part in the competition where they were tasked with presenting their ideas to a panel including three representatives from WDH and Nigel Turner, Wakefield Learning Community Co-ordinator.
Westborough High School from Dewsbury were named the winners on the night, with their app allowing WDH tenants to carry out various tasks including viewing their account, paying their rent and reporting a repair at the press of a few buttons.
The winners received a trophy and each team member will also get a £25 voucher donated by Wakefield Learning Community.
Kevin Dodd, WDH Chief Executive sat on the judging panel. He said:
“All the app designs showed great potential, and it was clear that everyone had gone to great effort in their work. The team from Westborough High School presented really well and had some fantastic ideas. They did such a good job we’re looking to bring them back in again so they can present to more people within the business.”
