WDH Community Grants available now

Published 3 April 2017

Local groups can apply for up to £1500 to help fund community projects.

WDH is inviting applications from local community groups or voluntary clubs to boost existing services, buy equipment or pay for an event. The aim is to increase community spirit and enhance the quality of life for local people.

Last year one of the many groups that benefited from the scheme was the West End Terriers. They received funding for new training footballs and poles and new football nets to help improve their game. Dale Appleton, from The West End Terriers, said: “It is a superb opportunity for volunteer run organisations to ensure they can remain operational. Without this help and support we would not have been able to provide the much needed training equipment for our members to help them improve and up their game.”

Applications open from 3 April to 19 May 2017.

WDH can provide help to complete the application form if needed. For further information visit http://www.wdh.co.uk/OurCommunities , call 01977 788807 or email neighbourhoodpanels@wdh.co.uk.

South Elmsall residents offered free energy advice this winter

Published 12 January 2016

A free winter energy advice session is being held next Tuesday at WDH’s Service Access Point on Exchange Street in South Elmsall.

The event, which will take place between 10 am and noon, is being hosted by WDH’s Sustainability Team.

Tenants will be able to get information about switching their energy supplier, applying for the Warm Home Discount, as well as how to correctly use the controls on storage heaters.

Alex Hargreaves, WDH’s Tenant Sustainability Officer, said:
“Many people don’t realise they could make big savings on their bills by simply switching to a cheaper tariff, especially with a new supplier. The process is really easy and on the day we're able to help people who bring their bills with them to quickly see if they’re getting the best deal.”

The next session in the local area this winter will be held on Tuesday 23 February at Kinsley and Fitzwilliam Learning Centre, 10 am to 1 pm.
