A recently completed WDH housing development located off Castleford Road in Normanton has had two of its streets named by students at Normanton Common School.
Joshua Baxter and Harry Lovett, both aged 9, put forward the chosen names Village Gardens and Village Close as part of a competition organised by WDH in conjunction with the school. Both street names take inspiration from the site’s history – with the homes built on the grounds of the old Village motel. WDH has been working with the school as part of its commitment to being a considerate constructor, ensuring that the children were aware of site safety during works in the area.
The estate, which was built by Partner Construction, has taken 18 months to complete. It includes 45 two and three bedroom houses that are all in the process of being allocated having recently been advertised through WDH’s lettings service, Homesearch.
Claire Secker, WDH Tenant Involvement Officer, said: “It’s great to be able to involve local youngsters in a project that’s taking place in their community. This one is particularly worthwhile because both current and future pupils are likely to both live in these homes and go to the school.”
