Pupils from Normanton Common Primary School took part in a “spring clean” to tidy up land near WDH’s Hopetown Walk bungalows.
The youngsters collected litter that had blown into bushes over the winter while contractors gave the grass its first cut of the year.
The Love Where You Live litter pick was organised by WDH’s Tenant Involvement Officer Claire Secker and Estate Officer Kath Reynolds to tidy an area of footpath leading to the town’s industrial estate.
Shanne Evans, learning mentor at the school, said: “The children look forward to going out and taking part in different projects. They can see that what they do makes a difference.
“Often the elderly people come out and ask them about what they are doing. It is positive to see young people interacting with older residents.”
