Community Grant Keeps Kids Busy in South Elmsall

Published 11 August 2014

A Wakefield and District Housing (WDH) Community Grant has helped provide activities for youngsters in South Elmsall during the school summer holidays.

SESKU Festival Committee used the £500 grant to fund arts activities in South Elmsall Market, provided by Wakefield-based arts company Faceless.

Activities included building wire sculptures, including figurines and cyclists – in the theme of the recent Tour de France.

Brenda Graham, Chair of the SESKU Festival Committee, said: “We try to provide events for young people all year round, but we rely on grants from local councils, groups and businesses to be able to do this.

“Without support like this from WDH we simply wouldn’t be able to provide activities like this, so we’re really grateful.”

Jane Gwilliam, WDH’s Tenant Involvement Officer, presented the cheque to Brenda at Saturday’s event.

Jane said: “We are delighted to be able to help SESKU Festival Committee provide activities for local young people, and we hope that Saturday’s activities were enjoyed by everyone who took part.”
