Cash Wise project draws on success

Published 10 November 2014

An Ossett mum has provided a voice over for one of a series of digital animations made to promote WDH’s successful Cash Wise project.

Amanda Sheridan, Cash Wise Team Leader, Chelsea Morris and her son Ben, and Pete Beaumont, Financial Inclusion ManagerChelsea Morris provided the voice for one of five characters who each face different financial difficulties but who get back on track after contacting a Cash Wise advisor.

The themes for all five scenes were suggested by a project group of previous Cash Wise participants including Chelsea, while a second tenant, Thaine Beecher from South Kirkby, also provided a voice over.

The Cash Wise project, which is funded by the Big Lottery, has now worked with over 400 social housing tenants across the Wakefield district since last year to help manage all elements of tenancy including create budgets, cook healthy food and ensure they’re claiming the correct benefits.

Chelsea, who voices the young mum character in the healthy eating scene, said: “I’ve never been involved in something like this but I really enjoyed going to the recording studio and being part of the videos. The Cash Wise advisors really helped me a lot when I attended workshops and I wanted to help encourage more people to do the same.”

Pete Beaumont, Financial Inclusion Manager at WDH, said: “We’re delighted with the success of the Cash Wise project so far and the creative ideas generated by the participants have really shaped this innovative project for WDH into something we are all very proud of.”

Paul Ellener, Producer at Motiv Productions who created the animations, said: “Working in this sector is something a bit different for us but the Cash Wise project really lent itself to this kind of production. We’re really pleased with the final products and hopefully people will find them engaging and informative.”
