Airedale residents get free winter energy advice

Published 3 December 2015

One of 11 free winter energy advice sessions was held last week in Airedale, thanks to WDH’s Sustainability Team.

Hosted at the local Service Access Point, tenants received information about switching their supplier, applying for the Warm Home Discount, as well as how to correctly use the controls on storage heaters.

Alex Hargreaves, Tenant Sustainability Officer, was on hand to advise people about ways they can save money on their energy bills.

She said: “Many people don’t realise they could make big savings on their bills by simply switching to a cheaper tariff, especially with a new supplier. The process is really easy and on the day we were able to help people who brought their bills with them to quickly see if they’re getting the best deal.”

WDH tenants can attend the following sessions in the local area this winter:

-       Tuesday 15 December, Elim Church Food Bank, Knottingley, 11 am to 1 pm

-       Tuesday 12 January, St Mary’s Community Centre, Cherquerfield, Noon to 2 pm

-       Wednesday 17 February, Pontefract Service Access Point, Noon to 2 pm
