Improvements

Since the start of our Improvement Programme tenants have been consistently telling us they want all homes brought up to our Wakefield Standard, not the Decent Homes Standard. The Housing Corporation recognised that organisations like WDH have the vision and capacity to deliver homes to a higher standard.

As a result WDH submitted revised proposals, which were accepted by the Housing Corporation and approved by the Local Management Committees.

The order of the revised programme will still be based on the original priorities as agreed by Local Management Committees.

more on improvements

In the following pages you can read about how we improve homes to keep them safe and modern. You can also see the different types of gas fires, doors, bathroom tiles, kitchen worktops and floor coverings that you can choose.

About the improvement programme... As part of our improvement programme, your home will be assessed at some point during your tenancy to see whether any improvements need to be made.

What improvements do we make? Improvements range from new windows or electric fires to brand new kitchens and bathrooms. All properties will be individually surveyed so we can decide the extent of work needed.

How does the improvement process work? A snapshot of the improvement process from start to finish.

What are your choices? As the resident, you have a choice about how you would like certain things (for example, new kitchen units, electric fires) to look.

Decoration vouchers and discounts... After work has been done on your home, you are eligible for our decoration allowance.

Our contractor partner's performance... A summary of our main performance indicators and how we measure up.
