Groups supporting older or vulnerable people
There are several groups throughout the Wakefield District which aim to help improve quality of life for older or vulnerable people, encouraging them to share their views on issues in their local area, and making sure they are not isolated.
If you are an older person and would like to have your say about issues that matter to you, there are several ways.
In some areas, tenants and residents have set up their own groups - for example, Horsefair and Micklegate Tenants’ and Residents’ Association and Whinney Lane Sheltered Group in the Pontefract, Knottingley and Featherstone area.
If you live in sheltered accommodation, you can take part in the Independent Living Service User Group, or speak to the Independent Living Team Leader when they visit your scheme each month.
We are looking to set up an older persons’ forum later this year. If you are interested in becoming involved please contact the WDH Engagement Team on 01977 724 668 or email tenants@wdh.co.uk.
